When I think New Year’s Eve makeup, I always think glitter. It’s the one night of the year you can reliably get away with it! We found some chic, sparkly looks worthy of ringing in 2015—along with some other beautiful, slightly more subdued styles, and of course, nontoxic products to achieve them with.
Eco-friendly glitter eye shadow is tough to find, so to get some sparkle, you might have to go with a conventional brand like MAC—which does offer some beautiful options. For near-glitter effects, check out Silk Naturals; they have some gorgeous glimmery shadows. Alima Pure also has some luminous shadows that will give you a nice shimmer. We’d love to know if you have any suggestions for eco-friendly glitter shadows, contact us!
Switch up the glitter look by adding a touch of sparkle under the eyes. Personally, I think this look is best for those on the youthful side.
Smoky Eye with a Twist
I love this fresh take on the classic smoky eye. With a touch of glitter as eyeliner, it’s the perfect option for New Year’s Eve. I recommend pairing Kjaer Weis‘ dark Onyx shadow with Alima Pure‘s luminous white eyeshadow used as liner. First apply the darker color, then apply the white on top. Dampen your brush first for extra staying power. Top it off with glitter for more shine (above) or forego the glitter for an avante-garde effect (below). Photo Credit: Romina Shama
Golden Bronzed Eye
Get this rich, dramatic look with RMS Solar Eyeshadow. For another option, I hear Jane Iredale Eye Shere Liquid Eyeshadow in Gold Silk has great staying power.
Vibrant Lid Color
This blue eyeshadow look is stunning! I might not go so dramatic with it, but on New Year’s you can stand to go a little bolder than you might otherwise. Alima Pure has a Navy Luminous shadow that would work well, and if you want to amp up the color, try Silk Naturals’ shadow in Ruffian, a more vibrant blue. If you opt for a bold lid color, be sure to go with a natural lip.
Clean Makeup with a Bright Lip
This less-is-more look is a little unexpected for New Year’s Eve and that’s what I like about it. You can use ILIA Lipstick in Neon Angel to pull this off.
