I have a confession to make….I love glitter and I’m kinda happy that its making a little comeback. Not sure about the whole glitter beard thing but hey whatever gets you in the holiday spirit. Un-like the glitter days of my youth as I get older it tends to get a little harder to rock this look. These beautiful runway looks inspired me to bring it back in more of a grown up sophisticated way. You can sweep a light touch of a golden shimmer over the lids for a subtle look, use glitter as a thick eye liner, try for a glitter cat eye or smokey lined eye with glitter on top. I would tend to save these looks for night time but its up to you!
Of course I love green beauty and always try to make the greenest beauty choices possible but it has proved really hard to find really good green beauty glitter. Their are some great gold shimmer colors that can get you close to the glitter look but if you really want to go for the super glitter look you might have to use a cheat product. I try to stick with the 90/10 or 80/20 philosophy so I feel that you can use a cheat product every now and again especially if its in a small area.
Tip: I asked my good friend and Dancing With The Stars Makeup Aritst, Sarah Woolf (@labeautymakeup) …you know this girl has plenty of glitter experience about her favorite makeup tips for glitter. Sarah suggests, “Doing foundation after doing your eyes is smart so your foundation doesn’t get any glitter on it. If you do your foundation first then decide to add glitter last minute, you can use tape or a sticky lint roller will lift the sparkles without ruining your foundation.” Sarah also suggested using an Aqua Sealer from Makeup Forever that helps hold the glitter on the eye.
RMS has a beautiful eye polish called “Lunar”, its has a beautiful champagne pearl shimmer that can also be used as a highligter and eyeshadow.
Jane Iredale has a 24 -Karat Gold Dust that works good if you want a little more of a metallic look. would work well to help achive this look.
Alima Pure Eye Shadow in Leone would also work.
If you want glitter nails Deborah Lippmann’s “Can’t Be Tamed”, is a really beautiful glitter and its a 5 free nail polish.
