No matter how much you think you’ve perfected your Namaste, life can be pretty stressful. Whether your kids are acting up, you have an impossible boss or you’re stuck in rush-hour traffic, you must treat yourself from time to time. I’m always on the lookout for good deals to do just that. Exhale Spa located in the Loews Hollywood Hotel at Hollywood and Highland is offering their popular 60-minute Fusion Massage for just $99 during the month of November. (Make sure you mention the special when booking.) I opted for a $15 upgrade for a deep tissue massage because my muscles really needed it, but to my surprise I found out that my $114 bought me a whole day of R&R.
You see, booking any treatment at the spa comes with access to the hotel pool. As soon as I found this out, I quickly packed a bag and got there two and a half hours early. Maybe because it’s November, there were plenty of loungers and cabanas available. I ordered a salad and drink. Ok, a cocktail. I was in the mood to indulge. After a quick dip in the heated pool I relaxed on the lounger, sipped my cocktail and read my book (The Goldfinch. Get it. It’s amazing.) Heaven. And I hadn’t even set foot in the spa yet!
I could have stayed poolside all day, but it was getting close to massage time. So I robed up and hit the relaxation room. This room is a sanctuary. Small, but made up with super-comfortable couches and beds dimly lit with a candlelight fireplace. I poured myself a nice cup of tea and curled up. Uninterrupted quiet time is all it’s cracked up to be.
Massage time. You’re going to get a great massage with any well-qualified, experienced masseuse. But what I really loved is how this masseuse actually listened to me. I explained that I exercise a lot, work a lot and carry all my stress in my neck and shoulders—so much so that I get so uncomfortable and sometimes have trouble sleeping. At my request and after her assessment, she spent the whole hour in my trouble areas and I couldn’t have been more pleased. I immediately felt better and had the soundest sleep I’ve had in a while.
Next up, the steam room. I love a good steam—there are tons of great benefits (check out this list at livestrong.com)—and this is the steamiest steam room in all of LA. Afterward, I felt totally refreshed.
After my blissful day enjoying all the amenities Exhale has to offer, I showered in their relaxing rainfall shower. Keeping within the Pink Kale philosophy, Exhale spa uses only organic, eco-friendly, biodegradable products.
I had the most amazing day and it was the fix that my body was screaming for. I’m definitely going back with my girlfriends to cash in on their November special one more time. Best deal in town.
