With a name like NailKale we just had to try it out! The NailKale line launched last fall with spokesperson Alexa Chung. Alexa has since gone on to launch her own line of textured polishes at Nails Inc.
Credit goes to nails Inc, creators NailKale, the first nail polish brand to use kale extract in their product, we have seen it in other skincare and beauty products but never in nail polish.
The Details: NailKale is the first superfood nail range made with kale extract for stronger, smoother, healthier nails. Kale extract is used because it’s known for its high level of A, C and K vitamins, they stimulate keratin production, hydrate and nourish nails. The NailKale polish line has colors as well as a base coat.
Behind the Brand: This 15 year old British brand was the brain child of entrepreneur Thea Green. Inspired from her years traveling the US as a Fashion Editor at Tatler. The brand has become widely popular over the years and now has their own salons all over the UK. Nail inc also has a great presence at Fashion week and with celebrities. They are currently doing a collaboration with Victoria Beckham.
How They Are Eco Friendly: NailKale is a 5-Free polish free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor. Although the bottle its self is not to eco friendly.
The Bottle: It’s beautiful! One of the unique features of this product is you can place your finger underneath the bottom of the polish to see what the color would look like on your skin tone. Pretty cool!
The brush: Wide & flat with a rounded tip, the bristles are dense which allows for a clean application with fewer strokes. The brush allows you to neatly go right up to the cuticle of the nail for a speedy and clean application.
Color: Highly pigmented, the color went on great with only two coats, but could be done in one. At first, I used it alone with no base and it has endured quite well. I’m on day three and it still looks fantastic, just a tiny bit of wear on the tips. Next I tried it with a top and bottom coat and its been lasting great.
Range: The color range is on the smaller side but they have some really great choices. Sephora carries a larger variety of colors. I have tried ‘Montpelier Walk’ a nude, ‘Victoria & Albert’ which is a classic red, ‘Gloucester Walk’ a deep purple, ‘Burton Mews’ which happens to be a dark green kale looking color which I am wearing at the moment and loving. All of these colors are fantastic and perfect for winter. For spring, ‘Duke Street’ is a beautiful light purple and ‘Mayfair Lane’ an appropriate light pastel pink.
Overall: I love this product! It felt luxurious going on, love the brush, the colors are beautiful and chip resistant, it’s 5-free, and its got kale in it! A no- brainer if you ask us, which is why we just can’t get enough of this polish.
